Blanchard Painted Purple For Epilepsy

Published: May 20, 2012 06:29 pm EDT

To say that opening day at Clinton Raceway was a success would most certainly be an understatement. The weather was perfect, the crowd was huge, and the winning plentiful

.

With the day's on track handle exceeding $24,000 and Huron Perth Bruce Grey Epilepsy raising over $2,000, it was a great kick off to another season of live harness racing at Clinton Raceway.

The highlight of the day would have to be Clinton's own announcer (as well as being the announcer assistant racing and gaming manager at The Raceway in the Western Fair District) Greg Blanchard being painted purple by a great group of kids, all in the name of Epilepsy. His bucket held the most cash, $163 to be exact, winning him the honour.

Live racing continues next Sunday, May 27 at 1:30 p.m. and all summer long at Clinton Raceway.

Another excellent day at Clinton Raceway thanks to Ian Fleming and his crew. Thanks to Greg Blanchard for winning the honour of being painted purple for a good cause. Our family is affected by epilepsy so this was especially significant for us. Education, research and support costs a lot of money and fund/awareness raisers such as the one put on at Clinton Raceway are very much appreciated. Thank you all.
P.S. Take note Mr. McGuinty and Mr. Duncan----good things happen at Ontario's small, rural racetracks. The community comes together for a great day of racing and helping others. What have you done on a positive note lately?

Way to go Greg!!!! And congrats to Ian Fleming and all the Clinton Raceway team for a fantastic show today as always. One comment that rings true is the fact that even after the races, a few hundred people are still in the grandstand cheering on the qualifiers and schoolers says it all. Harness Racing is strong and vibrant in Clinton.
