The Ontario Racing Commission has today invited comments on the proposed 2010 Standardbred rules changes received and reviewed under the ORC's Rules Amendment
Process.
Proposals for changes to the Rules of Racing were received from the industry in mid September. Industry input on these proposals happens at two levels:
- First, the proposals were reviewed by the Standardbred Rules Amendment Working Group, which was set up by the Executive Director to provide input and advice on the changes
- Second, individuals and associations can now provide their comments on the proposals through this current phase
The board of the ORC will be reviewing these proposals along with any input received through this comment phase. Any proposals that are approved by the ORC board will be announced through the issuance of directives.
The ORC wishes to thank the members of the Standardbred Rules Working Group for their interest and contribution.

I cant believe the decreased number in claimed horses. The amount of revenue lost across the board is huge. Keeping in mind why this rule was initiated at the time, I think it deserves to be reconsidered at this time.

I am amazed that the new whipping rule was not revisited. The Drivers in Ontario all look like they are hand cuffed and not trying to win races compared to the Meadowland Drivers. The Bet and purses have dropped dramatically .Instead of taking a look back and rescinding this huge mistake absolutely nothing was done. Great Job???
