The second tier of point-earners in the NAADA Consolation raced for $9,000 on Wednesday (May 18) at Monticello Raceway with Tony Ciuffetelli and trotter Makin Trouble K emerging victorious in 2:00.3 over Zagster, who was driven by Matt Zuccarello.
Tomorrow night at Yonkers Raceway, the top series point-earners will compete in the $15,000 NAADA final.
With the 3-5 betting favourite, Stormy Dangles (Peter Kleinhans) making a break at the start of the race, it allowed Mr Ridgetaker and driver Dave Yarock to assume command as Makin Trouble K settled in second behind the leader after a :28.2 first quarter. Once in front, Yarock kept the pedal to the metal as they zipped by the half in :59.3. Still showing the way, Mr Ridgetaker braced for a challenge from Makin Trouble K. When they trotted by the three-quarters, they were heads apart, and they remained that way around the final turn. But as they straightened and headed for paydirt, Makin Trouble K began to ease to the front and then cleared to a 3-1/4 length victory. In the lane, Zuccarello hustled Zagster by the tiring Mr Ridgeraker to gain second money as Yarock's trotter finished third.
Makin Trouble K, a nine-year old altered son of Rose Run Hooligan, is owned by Bruce Aldrich Jr. and trained by Laura Aldrich. He paid $9.80 to win.
