Twin B Tuffenuff Repeats In Red Shores Preferred

Veteran pacer Twin B Tuffenuff was simply untouchable in the featured event on Saturday, May 17 at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

The Preferred 2 class, going for a $5,000 purse, saw Gilles Barrieau blast Twin B Tuffenuff ($2.30) to the front and roll through fractions of :28.2, :56.4 and 1:26 before sprinting home in 28 seconds flat to win by three open lengths in 1:54. One Eight Hundred (Driven by Mike Downey) rallied for second with Tradition (Adam Merner) finishing third following a rail-skimming journey.

 Ron Matheson trains the winning pacer for owner Pat Morris of Charlottetown. 

The card featured a milestone win in the finale as Moonwriter ($5.60) made every call a winning one for trainer-driver Keith Ford and owner Debbie Element of Barachois, Que. to notch his 50th career victory. The 13-year-old son of Sportswriter - Carolina Moon now boasts a $459,408 bankroll.

Live harness racing continues Monday, May 19 on Prince Edward Island for the season opener at Red Shores at the Summerside Raceway on a special Victoria Day card starting at 1 p.m. (ADT).
