Del. Tracks Fear Further Gaming Expansion

An article on pressofatlanticcity.com explains that legislation is currently in the state House which would see allow one new casino in Wilmington. Lawmakers are discussing other possible locations, including a new casino in Sussex County, Del.

Officials from the existing racinos in the state (Delaware Park, Dover Downs, Harrington Raceway) are against further gaming expansion. “If they want to kill the racetracks, that’s what will eventually happen,” Delaware Park President Bill Fasy was quoted as saying.

Wilmington development group Riverwalk Partners LLC has seen its $100 million casino development plans resurrected with the possibility of the expanding gaming. The group wants to build a boutique casino featuring 100,000 square feet of gaming space and a 120-room hotel on a 12-acre piece of land alongside the Christina River.
