Heading down the homestretch of his legendary race-calling career, Canadian sports icon Dan Loiselle was profiled this weekend by Global News.
Loiselle announced late last year that he would be retiring after announcing more than 55,000 races, including 28 editions of the Queen's Plate and many major Standardbred races. Loiselle, who began his career with the Ontario Jockey Club in 1967, will call his last race at Woodbine Racetrack on May 31, 2015.
In an interview with Global News, Loiselle discusses what he will miss most about the job, his career highlights and how he came up with his signature phrase of "Picture Time!"
"That's what I'll remember about him the most, is just him in his own little workshop, by himself, doing it better than anyone could do it," said Jim Lawson, CEO of the Woodbine Entertainment Group.
