Jet From Above, a five-year-old Threefold mare out of the Falcon Almahurst mare Dazzle Dream, received a perfect pocket trip, then used the passing lane to register her fourth win of the year in 1:57.1

, for owner-trainer Laurie Patistas, in the $9,000 Filly and Mares Open Handicap Pace at Buffalo Raceway Friday night, May 14.

Jet From Above ($13.00) leaving from the pylons in the field of seven, and driven by reinsman Ray Fisher, Jr., settled in second, as eventual second place finisher and favourite in the race, Newberry Winner, cut all the fractions, :28, :57.4, and 1:27.2. A :29.3 last quarter-mile put the winner one length ahead at the finish line. Pembroke Primo (Kevin Cummings) came in third.

“She didn’t look like much on paper,” said Fisher. “I got a perfect trip, and she raced really well.”

Having raced her last three races at Vernon, Yonkers, and Monticello, the newcomer, seemingly up in class, has hit the board in nine of her 15 races. The $4,500 share of the winning purse put Jet From Above’s 2010 bankroll at $14,182 and $52,008 lifetime.

In the $9,000 Open Handicap Trot, Hello Carlo ($4.80), a Carry The Message gelding out of the Supergill mare Last Turn, won in 1:59 to register his fifth win of the season for owner Mario Caponi of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio.

Capably driven by the meet's leading driver Jack Flanigen, Hello Carlo leaving from Post 5, shot right to the lead, and never looked back to beat second place finisher, Manfromnantucket (Ron Beback, Jr.) by 1-1/4 lengths. Australian Stock (Kevin Cummings) came in the show spot.

Trained by Larry Clabaugh, the $4,500 share of the winning purse put Hello Carlo’s season bankroll at $30,870, and $112,020 lifetime.
