Classy Lane Rose played – and won - a game of “catch me if you can” in Tuesday’s $10,500 Fillies & Mares Preferred at The Raceway at The Western Fair District for the tandem of driver Alfie Carroll and trainer Ben Wallace.

Carroll hustled Classy Lane Rose to the lead from Post 1 and she successfully chopped out fractions of :27.3, :57.2 and 1:26.3 before using a :29.3 closing quarter to win by a nose over Manvers Short Cut in 1:56.1. Driving Miss Deo took home the show dough.

Sent off as the 4-5 favourite, Classy Lane Rose won for the fifth time this year – and for the 10th time in her career – for Wallacestandardbreds Inc of Milton and Jamie Millier of Puslinch, ON. The four-year-old daughter of Jeremes Jet-Titanic Rose pushed her lifetime earnings to $218,955 with the victory.

Wiskywisky Nancy O used front-stepping tactics to take home the lion’s share of the purse in the $5,600 Fillies & Mares Preferred 3. Doug McNair sent her through fractions of :28.4, :59 and 1:28.3 before using a :29-second closing panel to win by two lengths over Doober Hoozzitz in 1:57. Third prize was earned by Romance In Camelot.

Sent off as the 4-5 favourite, the five-year-old Mach Three-Celestine Prophecy miss scored for the third time this season for trainer Brent Belore. The homebred has stashed away more than $91,000 to date for the Embro, ON partnership of Jean & James Caddey and Alana & Dylan Belore.

Shawn Robinson had a perfect day in London thanks to a three-win performance on the 12-race card. He and driver Billy Davis, Jr. clicked with A Fiesty X Ample (1:59.3), Yankeelicious (2:00.3) and Shes All Good (1:58.2).

The productive day at the office pushed Robinson’s yearly win total to 14 while his lifetime total climbed to 1,186. He’s trained horses that have banked in excess of $21 million to date.
