Ward Enjoys A Perfect Afternoon At Alberta

Conditioner Lance Ward, teaming with driver Jim Marino, boosted his win total by four on Saturday afternoon at Alberta Downs to tie Gerry Hudon for the No. 1 spot in the track’s trainer standings

Ward sent out four starters during the 10-race afternoon program and all four were right on target. Three-year-old Real Artist colt Trust The Painter ($8.90) romped to a 1:59.4 victory breaking his maiden in the third race for Ward and six-year-old Tajma Hall gelding Allbouttaj ($6.40) got up to score for the second straight time in 1:57.1 in the following race. Cotton Cowboy ($4.80), a sophomore son of Brandons Cowboy, came on for a 1:59.2 score in the sixth race and four-year-old Ludwigpanbeethoven gelding Mr Mozzart ($4.90) doubled up in the next race in wire-to-wire fashion in 1:58.4 giving Ward the grand slam.

The resident of Ardrossan, Alta. has won 23 times this year (14 at Alberta Downs) earning over $91,000. Lifetime, he has sent out 284 winners to bank more than $2 million.

Trainer-driver Keith Clark also enjoyed a productive afternoon winning three races with Western Chrome ($13.20), Promise Me Pez ($5.90) and Kg Bradescape ($7).
