Standardbred Canada invites you to show your love for harness racing by being an 'ambassador' for
National Horse Week, designated by Equine Canada to take place from Saturday, May 29 through Sunday, June 6.
Horse Week is held each year to promote and celebrate Canada’s thriving horse industry. A wide range of activities are held across the country, including trail rides, horse shows, charity events and open houses to allow horse enthusiasts and the public alike to celebrate horses!
SC invites members and racing fans to take part in National Horse Week by joining our “I Love Canadian Harness Racing” Team and becoming an Ambassador for the sport.
Here’s what you need to do to be an Ambassador. During National Horse Week, introduce at least one new person to harness racing. There’s a number of different ways you can do this and we’ll be giving you a list of 10 ideas early next week.
We are also going to ask anyone who is participating to sign an on-line petition and indicate how you are introducing someone new to harness racing. And for those of you who take part, your name will be entered into a draw to win a VIP Race Night package with loads of extras at your local track.
To participate, sign up as an ambassador at www.ilovecanadianharnessracing.com.
TEN THINGS YOU CAN DO TO INTRODUCE SOMEONE TO HARNESS RACING
- Take them out to the track to watch and bet on the races.
- Take them to a local teletheatre to watch and bet on the races.
- Invite them over and watch racing on-line on your computer.
- Take a past issue of TROT and pass it along to someone who’s never been to the races. (ideas – your Dr., dentist, dry cleaner, hairdresser, personal trainer, massage therapist, etc.)
- Ask them to tune in to Bet Night Live on Monday, May 31.
- Give them a FREE Racing program for an upcoming night at your local track. Better yet, download an easier version of the racing program from iwannabet.ca for racing at your local track and pass it along to them.
- Invite someone over to your farm, stable, training centre to meet one of your horses and see what goes on in a day in the life of a racehorse.
- Do you know someone with a birthday, anniversary during this week or need an end of year gift for your child’s school teacher? Buy them a gift certificate to your local track.
- Show someone a Video or DVD of a great race or racehorse.
- Give someone a $10 betting voucher and information on your local racetrack.
