Justin Vincent had a stellar night at “The Raceway by the Beltway” winning with five of seven drives on the Saturday night Rosecroft card
.
Vincent started quickly winning the opener with Speedit Up Hanover, who chopped over six seconds off her previous lifetime mark scoring in 1:58.4. Jerry Nock conditions the winner for owners Kasey Bendix and Virginia Marvel. Speedit Up Hanover and Vincent sat a patient two-hole trip and pounced on the field in the stretch.
The Roger Hans-owned and trained Little Miss Woohoo was the next drive that Vincent had making a quarter-move to the lead and never looking back while carving two seconds off her lifetime mark with a 1:56.1 score. That completed the “Justin Vincent Daily Double," which returned $12.80.
In the third race hard-luck mare Dee Dee King, who had been racing strongly, but couldn’t get to the winner’s circle found it with Vincent’s able assistance via a powerful first over move and just missed equalling her mark with a 1:54.2 mile. Richard Malone Jr. trains and co-owns this one with Felicity Kessler. The win gives the class mare almost $97,000 in lifetime earnings.
Vincent sat out the fourth race and didn’t hit the ticket in the fifth race, but when teamed up with another Roger Hans-owned and trained distaffer found the winner’s circle with Furious Franny, who went the uncovered route to lower her lifetime mark by more than two seconds while scoring in 1:55.1.
After sitting out the seventh race, Vincent sat behind owner Harry Davis’ Awesome Blue Jean, who is conditioned by David Banta. The reinsman sent Awesome Blue Jean to the lead, faced hounding pressure and held safe to the wire for his fifth winner of the night in the eighth race in 1:55.1.
Despite the presence of overwhelming and odds-on favourite Pilgrims Danica in the nightcap, the Vincent backers bet Anything But Plain down to 3-1 in the final and Vincent gave his backers a perfect two-hole trip, but couldn’t reach the winner late while holding the place slot. That gave Vincent five wins, a second and an off the board finish in seven races on the card.
