Retros Mystery ($16.80) flew off third-over cover to reel in Icy Blue Scooter for a 1:53.2 score in Sunday's (May 12) $9,000 Open Pace at Century Downs.

David Kelly angled the five-year-old Mystery Chase gelding into the outer flow from fifth as odds-on favourite Ima Dude (Brandon Campbell) rated a :57 half mile, and from there the pair took advantage of an intensifying pace. Icy Blue Scooter (Nathan Sobey) ranged up to force Ima Dude to a :27.2 third sectional, setting the stage for Retros Mystery to make his late stand-side rally. After Ima Dude was worn down in upper stretch, Retros Mystery fanned off cover and lifted to a one-length win over Icy Blue Scooter. Phanatical Maniac (Thomas Miller) saved third out of traffic.

Retros Mystery earned his seventh win of the season for owner-trainer Stewart Waterman.

May 12, 2019 - 9:58 pmGreat to see Dave doing well,

Angus Gillis SAID...

Great to see Dave doing well, I watched him drive at Northside Downs and I liked the way he drove a horse. When you got your horse after the race you knew no matter where he finished your horse was ready for his next start, not sent for one race. Great to see you have success just keep a level head and don’t let Papa tell you otherwise. Ha Ha No I’m serious
