Dontgetinskyway won the $11,000 Open Pace in 1:54.3 at Buffalo Raceway on Saturday night (May 11).

The win was the fifth in 19 attempts this year for Dontgetinskyway, a seven-year-old Dontgetinmyway gelding trained by David McNeight Jr. and owned by Limerick Racing Stable of Hamburg, New York.

With regular driver Dave McNeight III in the sulky, third choice Dontgetinskyway ($12.40) settled in fifth from post four as Fantasypan (Jack Flanigen) hit the quarter in a quick :27.4. Hopskipanajump (Jim McNeight), who was hung on the outside, gained the lead and tripped the half-mile marker in :56.4.

Down the backstretch the second time, the leaders started to tire and eventual second-place finisher Fireyourguns (Mike Caprio) got the jump on the field, hitting the three-quarters in 1:25.3.

With a :28.4 last quarter-mile, Dontgetinskyway got up just in time to nip Fireyourguns by a head at the wire. Longshot Adelias Prince (Ray Fisher, Jr.) came in third.

The $5,500 winner's share of the purse put Dontgetinskyway’s seasonal earnings at $44,560 and lifetime bankroll at $220,287. The win was his 18th in 158 starts.

McNeight III led all drivers with four wins on the card.
