Trot Insider has received an update in regard to the accident which occurred during Kawartha Downs' first race

today (Thursday, May 12).

Details are sketchy at this point, but Kawartha officials have told Trot Insider that Kyle Balson, who was driving Casimir Kaos, was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for assessment.

Casimir Kaos, who was making the second pari-mutuel start of her career today, was apparently rough-gaited as she and Balson headed to the opening quarter. The filly fell and unseating Balson, who ended up in the infield.

Trot Insider has learned that the horse was loose for a while before being collared near the paddock. Officials at KD have indicated that Casimir Kaos only suffered minor cuts and abrasions.
