Lucky Jim Tops Standardbred Poll

The first installment of the 2009 Hambletonian/Breeders Crown Standardbred Poll was released earlier today, with the white-hot Lucky Jim leading the way

for the husband/wife duo of driver Andy Miller and trainer Julie Miller.

Lucky Jim, a four-year-old son of S Js Photo, has nine wins in as many tries this year thanks to events such as the $96,000 final of the Horse And Groom Series, the $41,500 final of the Father Foley and the $40,000 elimination of the Arthur J. Cutler Memorial.

I would imagine that the speed that Bettor Sweet went the other day will move him up in the rankings.That was an amazing time & one can only wonder what speed badge horses will be attaining in the next few years. Under ideal track & weather conditions I don't think that something under 1:46 is beyond the realm of possibility.Maybe another Somebeachsomewhere will come along!
