Extra Large Effort By Mach It Big

Mach It Big ended a two-race losing streak when he front-stepped to an impressive-looking tally in Monday’s $15,500 Preferred Handicap for pacers at The Raceway at the Western Fair District

Sent off as the 4-5 choice in the seven-horse affair, Mach It Big and driver J.R. Plante were parked by First Rate Shark past the quarter pole in :27.4 before being released to the top. Once in charge of the tempo, the OSS graduate dictated the tempo through middle splits of :58.4 and 1:27.1. A :28.4 final frame sealed the deal for the Richard Moreau pupil who drew clear to win by 2-1/4 lengths over Acceptable Risk in 1:56. Third prize was earned by First Rate Shark.

Keith and Deborah Cassell of Smiths Falls, ON share ownership on the four-year-old son of Mach Three-Belinda Hanover. It was the sixth win of the year and the 11th lifetime tally for Mach It Big, who pushed his lifetime earnings to $178,435.
