After settling for the runner-up spot to Hypnotic Blue Chip last week in the Spring Pacing Championship, Lisagain pulled the pocket and wore down his rival in deep stretch to prevail in the return of the Open Pace at Woodbine Racetrack on Saturday night

.

As the gate swung open in the $45,000 Saturday night feature event, Lisagain and driver Rick Zeron protected the rail, forcing Art Professor (Paul MacDonell), who blasted off the gate from Post 6, into the two-hole by the :27-second first quarter mark.

Heading down the backstretch, Jody Jamieson sent 1-2 favourite Hypnotic Blue Chip to command from third reaching the half in :55.3, followed by three-quarters in 1:23.

Turning for home, Lisagain launched his attack and managed to push past the millionaire in deep stretch to score in 1:50 flat thanks to a :26.3 final effort. Hypnotic Blue Chip finished just a half-length behind while Art Professor finished nearly three lengths back in third.

Lisagain paid $11.20 to win as the 9-2 second choice. The five-year-old son of Dragon Again-Lisheen is now two-for-five on the year with $74,150 earned for Ervin Miller Stable Inc., Mystical Marker Farms LLC, D And M Trading Ii LLC and Mary Jane Anderson. The victory was the third on the card for Woodbine’s leading trainer Jeff Gillis.
