Twilight Seelster set most of the speed in Tuesday’s $10,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred 2 for pacers at The Raceway at Western Fair District, and she held on for a narrow tally in the featured tilt.

With Phil Hudon at the controls, Twilight Seelster was parked third on the outside at the quarter pole before brushing to the top before the half. She lead the groups through middle splits of :56.4 and 1:25.2 before kicking home in :29.3 to win by half a length over race favourite Farmers Tuition in 1:55. Set Me Up took home the show dough.

Brad Wilson of Lambton Shores, Ontario owns the four-year-old daughter of Modern Art-Titania Seelster, who hangs her harness bag in the barn of trainer Jim Ainsworth. It was a new lifetime mark for the 12-time winner who now boasts career earnings in excess of $100,000.

Ja El Pocketrocket survived a rugged trip to win one of the two $7,000 Preferred 3 tilts offered on the card. Scott Coulter was parked every step of the mile with the Barry Treen trainee who dug down deep to win by a head over Lawmen Reign in 1:57.4. Race favourite Rays San was third.

Len Gamble of Etobicoke, Ontario owns the four-year-old son of Santanna Blue Chip-Winning Hand who won for the first time this season. The eight-time winner has just shy of $85,000 in career earnings.

Mamasaidso took home top prize in the $7,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred 3 for pacers. The Victor Puddy pupil, who was sent off at odds of 13-1, cleared to the lead shortly past the half and eventually drew clear to win by a length over Shellace in 1:56.1. Angel On The Wing was third.

Alfie Carroll mapped out the winning trip for the five-year-old daughter of Cambest-Fox Valley Surreal, who is owned by Keith Cassell of Smiths Falls, Ontario. It was the second score of the season for the 13-time winner who recently went over $100,000 in lifetime earnings.

Rob Sparling, Jr. and Modern Day Nite escaped injuries following a first race accident. The pacer, who was positioned in the two-hole past the half-mile marker, made a break on the turn as the field was making its way into the backstretch. Girlsliketohavefun (Mark Williams) hooked wheels with the breaking mare, and as a result Sparling was unseated from his sulky.

Modern Day Nite ran loose behind the rest of the field, but was eventually apprehended. Sparling got to his feet and was right back in the bike the very next race. He later found his way to the winner's circle with Rubber Belly in Race 9.
