The richest two-year-old pacing colt of 2011 has been entered to qualify at Hoosier Park on Saturday
, April 7.
With close to $860,000 in career earnings, A Rocknroll Dance will make the first start of his long three-year-old season in the 11th qualifier from Post 7 in a seven-horse field. Trainer Jim Mulinix, who also co-owns the colt with Denny Miller, Jerry and Theresa Silva, has designated three-time Hoosier Park leading driver Pete Wrenn to steer.
With 11 starts on the year, A Rocknroll Dance finished in the top three 10 out of 11 times with seven of those being wins. In just his third start, A Rocknroll Dance produced a world record equalling mile when he won his Metro Pace elimination in a career-best 1:49.1. He co-holds the track record for two-year-old pacing colts at Indiana Downs with Ron Burke’s Sweet Lou, after he won a division of the $106,000 Elevation Stake in 1:51.3 with driver Yannick Gingras in the bike. His resume also boosts wins in the $510,000 Governor’s Cup at Harrah's Chester, the International Stallion Stakes and Bluegrass Stakes at The Red Mile.
The son of Rocknroll Hanover is no stranger to Hoosier Park’s oval as he made his second career start as a two-year-old at Hoosier Park in a qualifier on July 1, 2011 where he finished third in 2:00 with Mulinix in the bike.
A Rocknroll Dance is ranked number one in the Hoof Beats/Trackmaster ratings for 2012 and in the 67th edition of the Little Brown Jug. He also cracked Trot Magazine's top 10 Spring Book colts eligible to this year's North America Cup. Stay tuned to the Standardbred Canada website in the coming weeks to see where A Rocknroll Dance sits in those standings and for a further update on the colt.
