Past Canadian Trotting Classic champion Amazing Catch made his return to the Woodbine Mohawk Park winner's circle for the first time since his dazzling 19-1 Grand Circuit stakes upset in 2024.

The Ohio invader won the Sunday, April 5 feature, a $26,000 high-end conditioned trot, following back-to-back top three finishes in the same class in recent weeks.

Two-time O'Brien Award-winning miss Willys Home Run (Doug McNair) led the field into the backstretch but James MacDonald had Amazing Catch moving forward past the pocket to take over after a :27.2 quarter. The millionaire stallion set middle fractions of :56 and 1:24.3 unopposed then held off a pylon-skimming Right Here Hanover (Bob McClure) in the stretch by three-quarters of a length for the 1:53 victory. Multiple Ontario and Kentucky stakes winner Ways N Means (Paul MacDonell) took third over Willys Home Run.

Amazing Catch paid $4.60 to win as the 6-5 favourite.

The five-year-old Walner-Mets Life stallion, who sold for a record $2.56 million at the Standardbred Horse Sale at the end of his sophomore stakes season, is now campaigned by trainer Todd Luther and owner Greg Luther Racing of Blacklick, Ohio. Winless in 10 starts last year, Amazing Catch has put together a record of 3-2-2 in eight starts so far in 2026.

Earlier on the card, Tellit Russ Tellit ($3.10) earned his third straight win in Pop-Up Series action, prevailing off a pocket trip in the $18,000 series final for $7,500 claiming male pacers. Claimed from the Jodie Cullen stable after a nose defeat and back-to-back wins in the preliminary legs, the five-year-old Tellitlikeitis-Anna D gelding won by 2-1/2 lengths in 1:54.2 for trainer Garry Merner and owner Jennifer Ritchie of Kingston, N.B. James MacDonald made the winning move turning for home and overtook pacesetter Hes Swift (Phil Hudon) with Dan Speed (Bob McClure) closing for third. The popular pacer will switch barns again after being claimed by Quebec owner Francois Morin.

In the $12,000 series consolation, the Paul MacKenzie-trained Unison ($15.90) and Jody Jamieson defeated favourite Yourtheone (James MacDonald) and Uriel Blue Chip (Travis Henry) in a close finish to the 1:58 mile after the trio got around a pair of front-end breakers in the final turn.
