Waiting On A Woman extended his winning streak to six at Pompano Park on Wednesday night (April 3) with a handy win for Wally Hennessey in 1:54.3.
Despite being handicapped with a Post 9 start, Waiting On A Woman, a five-year-old son of Northern Bailey led virtually every step of the mile, securing the top spot with a :27.2 opener quarter and sealing the deal with a :27.4 final quarter.
Illusionsndreams, a Canadian invader and new arrival in the Andy Santeramo Stable, got the garden journey the entire mile and finished second, two and a half lengths away, while Florida-bred Lugar and driver Bruce Ranger teamed up to finish third.
Ill Tell You What and Spring Goal picked up the final awards in the field of eight.
Trainer Travis Kolaczynski had high praise for his trotter, saying, “…he’s a very special horse. I’m amazed that he has been able to keep so sharp racing every other week. And I can’t say enough great things about Wally (Hennessey), who gave him another great and alert drive off the gate and then was able to give him that mid-mile breather. They are just a great team.”
For Waiting On A Woman, it was his ninth victory in 10 tries this year — a 'DNF' due to broken equipment has been his only blemish. The lion's share of Wednesday's purse increased his seasonal bankroll to $46,250 for the New Jennaration LLC.
The Open 2 Trot went to Andover America and driver Bruce Ranger.
The eight-year-old won for the first time in his 2013 campaign. His win on Wednesday, which was the 45th victory of his illustrious career, sent his lifetime earnings to $673,965.
Shes All In (driven by Rick Plano) finished second, while Current Image (Kevin Wallis) finished third.
Andover America is owned by Mc Trade Enterprises.
