Standardbreds don’t usually escape the racetracks they call home. That being said, police forces aren’t usually asked to lasso racehorses that are roaming the neighbourhood, either.
According to a report by ABC affiliate WTMW 8, both instances happened this morning (April 30) in Bangor, Maine.
The article states that authorities were called at roughly 1 a.m., alerted to a horse from the Hollywood Casino Raceway roaming the neighbourhood.
The name of the horse is unknown at this time, but the article states that the officers that responded to the call have dubbed it ‘Horsie.’
After having cornered the horse in a driveway, Officer Jose Vidaurri made a lasso from a rope he had in his cruiser and was able to put it around the horse’s neck.
The report states that after being apprehended, ‘Horsie’ played it cool by sampling some local grass while waiting to be taken back to his stall.
