Buster Blue Chip was a repeat winner in the $1,700 Winners Over Pace at Exhibition Park Raceway in Saint John, N.B. on Saturday, helping driver Gilles Barrieau prep for the National Driving Championship next weekend
on Prince Edward Island.
Providing Barrieau, the Atlantic Regional Driving Championship runner-up, with one of four wins on the card, Buster Blue Chip left from Post 6 and wired the field of pacers in 2:00.1. Full Of Finesse finished two and a quarter lengths behind off a pocket trip and Perfect Trick rounded out the top three.
For Buster Blue Chip, a seven-year-old Bettors Delight-Miss Nukachef gelding owned and trained by Galen Dempsey, the win was his second in three seasonal starts and 23rd lifetime pushing his career bankroll to $71,602.
Barrieau will compete in the 2011 National Driving Championship next Saturday, May 7 at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at Charlottetown Driving Park. Racing starts at 6 p.m. The drivers will be on hand for a “Meet and Greet” autograph session from 5 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. in the grandstand.
