Officials with The Raceway at the Western Fair District have issued a press release regarding upcoming nomination payments for the 2013 Molson Pace and the 2013 City of London Series. The nomination form for the Molson Pace indicates that the guaranteed purse for the final has been reduced from previous years.
As per the nomination form, the guaranteed final purse for the Molson Pace will be $200,000 in 2013.
“We’re very pleased that the Molson Pace will remain as our signature event on closing night,” Western Fair District Racing and Gaming Manager Ian Fleming was quoted as saying in the release. “It has grown in stature over the years and maintaining it at this purse level will ensure another top field this year.”
In addition to the news pertaining to the Molson Pace and the City of London Series, Trot Insider has learned that no decision has been made as of yet regarding the future of either the Forest City Pace or the Middlesex County Series.

Molson Pace/ City Of London Nominations Coming Up
The Raceway at the Western Fair District wishes to advise horsepeople that the nomination deadline for this year’s Molson Pace and the City of London Series is coming up on April 15, 2013.
This year’s Molson Pace will feature $20,000 eliminations on May 24 and a $200,000 (guaranteed) final the following week on May 31 (closing night).
“We’re very pleased that the Molson Pace will remain as our signature event on closing night,” said Racing and Gaming Manager Ian Fleming. “It has grown in stature over the years and maintaining it at this purse level will ensure another top field this year.”
Foiled Again, the richest pacer in history, is the two-time defending champion in the event and expected to be back for a shot at the three-peat this season.
