Chewey marched to the front and successfully made four left turns en route to taking home top honours in Tuesday’s $15,500 Preferred Trot at The Raceway at the Western Fair District

.

Sent off at odds of 6-1 in the eight-horse tilt, Chewey shot to immediate command from Post 3 and laid down fractions of :28.1, :59.1 and 1:29 for driver Rob Sparling, Jr. before using a :29.4 final frame to seal the deal by 1-1/4 lengths over Were Rolling. Power Shot, who did the first over work, held on gamely to grab the show dough.

Ed Galinski trains the six-year-old son of Trainforthefuture-Marie Adonno for the Kingfisher Farm of Seneca, Ont. The 1:58.4 clocking was just one-fifth of a second shy of matching the gelding’s lifetime record. It was the trotter’s third win of the season and the 13th of his career. He’s stashed away more than $123,000 in lifetime earnings.
