It was a case of déjà vu for Wildcat Star and Hang On Baby during Thursday’s 11-race card at Woodbine Mohawk Park as each filly came up perfect yet again in their preliminary leg assignments of the Ontario Sires Spring Series. Wildcat Star actually extended her winning streak to four-in-a-row in the first of two splits for three-year-old pacing fillies. With regular pilot James MacDonald opting off the streaking sophomore to drive another, Trevor Henry made the most of the catch-driving opportunity by guiding her to the 1:53.4 decision. Wildcat Star got away fourth while Girl In A Tavern shot to the lead and carved out first-half fractions of :27.3 and :56.4. Wildcat Star was on the move in the third quarter, however, and with a quick turn of foot she rushed up to take command while racing parked past the three-quarter pole in 1:26. She then used a :27.4 closing quarter to win by a length over Girl In A Tavern. Fromakingtoaqueen, who was a week one winner in the series, was third.

It was the fifth win of the year for the homebred daughter of Bettors Delight-Wildcat Magic, who is owned by trainer Tim Gillespie along with the breeder, Wildcat Stables Inc. The photogenic lass has now banked $65,900 to date. Addictivebehaviour took down a new lifetime mark of 1:54.4 in the second division in what was his debut for new trainer Brett Lester. Louis-Philippe Roy pointed the filly to the lead from Post 5 and together they successfully sliced out splits of :28, :58 and 1:27.4 before exploding home in :27 to win by 1-1/4 lengths over Lyons Princess. Infinity Seelster tagged along to take home third prize.

Sent off as the 1-2 favourite, the daughter of Bettors Delight-Beach Jenny posted her first win of the season and the third of her career. Mickey Sudar and Arpad Szabo share ownership on the winner of $45,772. In the lone division for the trotting fillies it was Hang On Baby finding her way back to victory lane for the second straight week in the series. Sylvain Filion got away third with the John Kennedy trainee while Makin Magic Tonight and Make It Easy battled to the quarter pole in :28.3 before the latter cleared to the top. Once in charge, Make It Easy sped through middle panels of :57.4 and 1:27.2 before being pressed by a first-over Make It Easy. She eventually wore down the leader thanks to a closing kick of :28.1. Her margin of victory was a head over Makin Magic Tonite. Make It Easy took home the show dough.

Sent off as the 4-5 favourite, the daughter of Muscle Mass-You And Me Baby improved her 2022 record to 6-0-0 from nine assignments while bumping her lifetime bankroll to $63,195 for Ralph and Sandra Pitt of Cargill, ON.
