Ontario-bred Wholly Louy continued his successful assault on the Scarborough Downs Free-for-All ranks on Saturday, posting his second top class victory from three local appearances, timed in a seasonal best
1:55.4.
Regular pilot Heath Campbell moved early and often, steering the eight-year-old son of Camluck three-wide past the half before grabbing the lead and leading the accomplished field up the Scarborough backstretch. Wholly Louy withstood a stern stretch challenge from the favourite, Malek Hanover (Shawn Thayer), and the scrutiny of a judges’ inquiry to post the razor-thin margin of victory.
Now owned by Michelle Nelson and Scott Dillon and trained by Joseph Nelson, Wholly Louy’s victory represented the fastest clocking of the young 2012 season at Scarborough Downs.
The win was No. 43 for the bay gelding, who has amassed $844,632 in earnings throughout his career.
