Seeyou Men was driven to victory by his trainer, Guy Gagnon, in the $10,000 Preferred Handicap Trot at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Wednesday evening (April 26).
Gagnon and Seeyou Men sat in the pocket to the :27.1 opening panel behind Duke Lavictoire (Jacques Beaudoin) before advancing to the top to take over. Once at the helm, Seeyou Men extended himself to a two-length cushion to the half in :57.3 and three-quarters in 1:26.4. Around the final turn, Gagnon and his trainee opened up, crossing the wire 4-1/4 lengths in front in 1:55.4. Westfiftysecond (Darcy Clancy) was second and Duke Lavictoire was third.
Seeyou Men is an 11-year-old gelded son of Muscle Mass and the Angus Hall mare Seeyouinthecircle, owned by Catheline Pelletier and Chantal Gravel. In 197 career starts, the trotter has had a record of 43-54-31 with $446,462 in earnings. So far in 2023, he has had two wins and a fifth in three starts.
In the Wednesday opener at Rideau, Jeremy Marcotte of Papineauville, Que. had his first career training win. Marcotte trained Honey Bee First as she was driven to victory by Stephane Pouliot in 1:59.4. It was Marcotte's first pari-mutuel start.
