Double A Mint has been an unstoppable force in recent weeks in the Fillies & Mares Preferred class at Woodbine Mohawk Park, and it was more of the same for the photogenic distaffer in Friday’s $30,000 edition of the class.
Louis Philippe Roy wasted no time hustling Double A Mint to the lead in the five-mare affair, and once she found the top spot she carved out panels of :27.4 and :57.2. She was pressed by Outlaw Fireball around the final turn, and the battle resulted in a three-quarter pole clocking of 1:24.4. Double A Mint turned that foe aside – and the others, too – and used a :28.4 closing panel to win by 3-1/4 lengths over Sandbetweenurtoes in 1:53.3. Outlaw Fireball was third.
Richard Moreau trains the four-year-old daughter of Bettors Delight-Double Crème for owner Adriano Sorella of Guelph, Ont. The mare has put together a stellar record of 8-2-1 from 12 trips to the track this season. The 14-time winner has racked up a career bankroll totalling $480,231.
