Dragons Den Star To Tackle Racing?

Former Canadian Dragon’s Den star W. Brett Wilson has resurfaced as host of Risky Business, a new deal-or-no deal reality investment series and one of the first ventures could involve harness racing.

Building on his reputation as the lead deal-making Dragon, Wilson will do everything in his power to turn ordinary people into extraordinary investors. The 13 episode, 30-minute series is slated to premiere on Slice™ in Fall 2011. In each episode of Risky Business, Brett will give daring investors the chance to risk big and win big. As host, he will guide the investors as they choose between pitches made by two different entrepreneurs, each looking for capital and offering a big return. The options will be unusual - such as investing in undervalued vintage wine labels, betting it all on a high stakes one-night-only event, or perhaps investing in a standardbred race horse.

"I'm going on making a sales pitch to get entrepreneurs onto our business trying to get people to invest in the business," stated trainer Nick Boyd in a trackside interview at Grand River Raceway on Monday night. "There will be a couple of people putting up money, while me and someone else from a unique industry will make a pitch. The investing couple will choose a pitch and Brett Wilson gets the other pitch."

Boyd cited the Media Training he received in 2009 to be a confidence-booster in taking in this project. The media training is funded by the Standardbred Revenue Allocation Committee.

According to Slice, it isn't until the end of the episode that it is revealed how each investment performed.

"As someone who enjoys the art of investing, I'm looking forward to helping Canadians look at making money in unconventional ways," says W. Brett Wilson, host of Risky Business. "This kind of high-stakes investing takes a lot of guts - but it makes the returns that much sweeter."

Risky Business is produced by new global production company, 11 Television, in association with Slice™. The series is currently casting for novice investors, ranging from friends and family duos to married and unmarried couples, who are interested in making big money in new ways. It is also casting for entrepreneurs offering unique high-risk, high-reward investment opportunities.

"Ralphie" the newest pitch man on TV gotta like it! Remember don't sugar coat what the risks are because we all know there can be great rewards in the long run. Just think you get the deal done and there could be more work on the TV pitch circuit, you could be the newest incarnation of Billy Mays and that means an ab blaster, slap chop or a horse-blanket snuggie in the near future.
All the best Nick your a passionate and articulate spokesman for this industry, something we need.
