Khanbegler was the big winner Sunday, April 24 in Turkmenistan, as the dark stallion was named the winner of the south Asian state's 'Day of the Turkmen Racehorse' horse beauty contest

.

According to a report by the Herald Sun, Khanbegler was chosen from a shortlist of 10 Akhal-Teke horses. The dark winner apparently impressed the jury by showing 'beautiful characteristics for the production of offspring.'

The Day of the Turkmen Racehorse is the work of Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov, an avid horse enthusiast in his own right.

According to the report, President Gurbanguly, having donned a national costume, mounted an Akhal-Teke horse during the event.

In front of a reported crowd of thousands, President Gurbanguly galloped around several circuits, and, in his final move, was met by a dove which appeared 'out of nowhere.'
