The Stable That God Loves will send out some of its star performers this coming weekend.
Shake It Cerry, the 2014 Dan Patch Award Trotter of the Year will play the favourite's role in the $51,100 Meadows Trotting Maturity Friday, while stablemate Rockin With Dewey, also a Maturity hopeful, is listed at 12-1 on the morning line and will leave from post No. 5.
Luck Be Withyou will face favoured Foiled Again, the richest pacer in the history of the sport, Saturday at The Downs at Mohegan Sun Pocono. It will be the first start of the season for the John Craig-owned speedster, who is the second choice at 5-2 in the six-horse field. Luck Be Withyou turned in a sizzling prep for the $25,000 tenth race feature in 1:51.3, last quarter in :27.2 on April 16.
As a member of the Stable That God Loves, one per cent of seasonal purse earnings from these horses and a host of others will be donated to the Standardbred Racetrack Chaplaincy of Canada. More than 40 horses are currently part of 'The Stable That God Loves', a major fundraising initiative that has attracted the attention of mainstream media and has been embraced by a groundswell of support from horsepeople that have a collective sense of purpose to help their own.
