The iron-tough Acceptable Risk celebrated a major milestone in Monday’s $15,500 Preferred Pace at The Raceway at the Western Fair District, and in doing so he made an army of backers happy campers

.

Trevor Henry hustled the nine-year-old Acceptable Risk to the lead, and the son of Intrepid Seelster-Southernbound Lady didn’t look back en route to notching his 50th lifetime victory.

Sent off as the 4-5 favourite in the seven-horse affair, Acceptable Risk supplied splits of :28, :59 and 1:28.1 over a track rated “fast” with a one-second allowance before sprinting home in :29.1 to seal the deal by three-quarters of a length over Willies Place in 1:57.2. Third prize went to the first-over prompter, Button Up.

Dan Morrissey trains the fan favourite for owners David Morrissey of Ailsa Craig along with Dan McCann and William Woodburn of Parkhill, Ont. The pacer, who improved this year’s record to 4-4-4 from 16 starts, has banked more than $727,000 to date.
