Heartbeat Of Ontario Horse Racing: Meet Shauna

"My day starts at 7:00 a.m., we have stalls to clean, horses to exercise, lunch for the horses is usually 12 noon. If we're racing, my day may not end until 12 or 1:00 a.m. and there's no place I'd rather be."

The latest profile in the Heartbeat Of Ontario Horse Racing video series features Shauna from Orangeville, Ont. Shauna works at Norm Dunstan's farm and loves the environment provided by the horses.

"When I was working in an office, there was always stress. With the horses, even on days that are a little tougher, I can always find moments of peace."

Shauna is just one of the more than 60,000 people involved with horse racing in Ontario, individuals that make up the heartbeat of Ontario's vital and valuable industry. SC encourages the industry to post these videos and share them through email and social media.

Heartbeat Of Ontario Horse Racing: Shauna

Tens of thousands of Ontarians who rely on the horse racing and breeding industry continue to brace for the impact of the Ontario Liberals' plan to ravage the industry through changes to the OLG Slots at Racetrack Program. Not only have Ontarians vocally opposed expanded gaming as proposed, but they overwhelmingly support the current slots-at-racetracks model. Standardbred Canada urges everyone impacted by these cuts to take action by spreading the message of how a strong horse racing industry benefits the province and the country.
