Trot Insider has learned that pacing sensation Wiggle It Jiggleit will be making his return to Canadian soil in a matter of weeks.
Connections of Wiggle It Jiggleit, set for action this Saturday in the consolation of the George Morton Levy Memorial Pacing Series, plan to head North with an appearance in the Confederation Cup eliminations at Flamboro Downs. That race for four-year-old pacers, with 21 eligible horses as of the March 15 payment deadline, kicks off with elims on Sunday, May 8 and a $225,000E final on May 15.
The 2015 U.S. Horse of the Year, Wigglet It Jiggleit has picked up right where he left last year, winning three of his four seasonal starts in 2016. Two of those wins came come against solid older pacing talent while having the 'misfortune' of Yonkers' dreaded post position 7 -- where horses have a seasonal win success rate of just 6.3%.
Trained by Clyde Francis and owned by George Teague and the Teague Racing Partnership, Wiggle It Jiggleit (Mr Wiggles - Mozzi Hanover) boasts a 26-4-0-1 summary from 31 lifetime starts with a bankroll in excess of $2.3 million. If he starts in the 2016 Confederation Cup, it will be just the third appearance for Wiggle It Jiggleit in Canada after his two races last year at Mohawk Racetrack for the elimination and final of the 2015 Pepsi North America Cup.
Teague noted that he also had his eye on the 2016 Molson Pace at Western Fair, but is leaning toward an invitational pace closer to home at Harrah's Philadelphia. That race would be carded as part of the Harrah's Sunday card on May 29 with the Maxie Lee for older trotters and the Betsy Ross for older mare pacers.
