Driver Jack Moiseyev was sent to hospital on Monday following a one-horse spill in the fifth race at Woodbine Racetrack

.

Moiseyev was positioned eighth on the rail around the final turn with four-year-old gelding Docs Leopard King when the pacer suddenly fell. Moiseyev was ejected from the bike, but he did manage to quickly get back up on his feet.

“I’m pretty lucky,” Moiseyev told WEG Media from his home on Tuesday morning. “I have a sprained thumb and a few bumps and bruises, but I’ll live to fight another day.”

Moiseyev will book off his Thursday drives with plans to return to driving by the weekend. He's still not sure what happened with Docs Leopard King and why he went down.

“I pulled the ear plugs on him, and then about six steps later he fell,” said the veteran reinsman. “I had the bit in his mouth, but I think he caught something. Maybe a shoe or a hopple, I’m not quite sure.”
