Eight-year-old pacer Wynnfield Flash made his first pari-mutuel start for his old and new trainer Charlene Polk at Rosecroft Raceway on Saturday night a winning one, scoring in the night's fastest in 1:54.4
.
Justin Brenneman worked out a great trip in a lively outer flow and pounced on a hard used Anything But Plain and was next seen in the winner’s circle after the blow out victory.
Owner-trainer Charlene Polk had Wynnfield Flash as a youngster and had success with him, winning six of 12 starts (including his last three) and almost $30,000 before privately selling him. Over $300,000 in earnings and 121 starts later, Polk saw him in a cheaper claimer at Dover Downs and re-purchased the gelding. After giving him about four months off, she qualified him on April 7 at Rosecroft and dropped him into the eight-year-old and older handicap race.
Wynnfield Flash must have enjoyed returning to the scene of some of his early career success as he was the easiest of winners in a solid time.
