According to a report, an estimated 25,000 Massachusetts members of the Poker Players Alliance recently took part in an intense, five-hour email campaign against the inclusion of hidden anti-internet gaming clauses
within legislation seeking a pair of land-based casinos in the state.
An article on recentpoker.com states that the punters' virtual uprising was so effective that politicians involved in the process asked for the group to 'call off the dogs.'
The article states that there is a possibility that the clauses which looked to ban the online gaming practices were left in the legislation from previously unsuccessful pieces of legislation.
"We received commitments that the language would come out as high as the speaker's office," PPA Executive Director John Pappas was quoted as saying. "But until the language is out of the bill, we're a little gun-shy to say we achieved victory."
