Walkinshaw N Wins Saratoga Open

Yonkers shipper Walkinshaw N delivered as the 1-9 favourite in the $11,000 Open Pace at Saratoga Casino Hotel on Tuesday (March 9).

Assigned post 5 in the five-horse field, Walkinshaw N launched to the lead and faced little pressure through the first lap. The nine-year-old son of Mach Three continued on the point into the backstretch with Crockets Cullen N keeping close in tow from the pocket, and the rest of the field left in their wake. Crockets Cullen N kicked out of the pocket to challenge Walkinshaw N late, but the move proved futile as the Lance Hudson trainee cruised home to win in 1:53.2.

Crockets Cullen N was the runner-up to the favourite and completed a $9.20 exacta. Sgt Papa Daddy earned the show spot. Walkinshaw N is owned by William Hartt of Carmel, ME.

Live racing continues on Wednesday afternoon (March 10) with a matinee beginning at 12 p.m. (EST).
