The six-year-old Archangel gelding Dream Nation delivered a 1:55.3 victory as the even-money choice in the $36,000 Preferred Trot at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Monday (March 7).
Grabbing the lead past a :29.2 first quarter, Dream Nation yielded to sit pocket to Patriarch Hanover up the backside as he took the field by the half in :58. Pikachu Hanover pulled first over out of fourth moving to the final turn and, with the tempo still tepid, blitzed the leader to match strides at three-quarters in 1:27. Off the turn, Pikachu Hanover took the lead while Dream Nation fired off his cover and slid to the front in the final eighth, winning by a length at the beam. Patriarch Hanover finished third, three lengths farther behind, with Buck Dancer fourth.
Owned by Les Ecuries Dorleans Inc., Ecurie CSL, Gestion C Levesque 2005 Inc. and Marc Camirand, Dream Nation won his third race from nine starts this season and his 17th from 73 overall, pushing his career earnings to $528,193. Scott Young steered the $4.10 winner for trainer Jacques Dupont.
