Valentowner waited patiently in the pocket, then roared through the Lightning Lane to capture Tuesday’s $22,500 Preferred Handicap Pace at The Meadows
at a healthy 5-1.
Greg Grismore pushed Valentowner to the lead, where he stung Southern Allie before yielding to the pocket. That strategy paid off when Valentowner, a bit fresher late, downed Southern Allie by a neck in 1:52. Full Of Sand finished third.
Norm Parker trains Valentowner, a seven-year-old son of Towners Big Guy-Keys Valentine who vaulted over $500,000 in career earnings, for owner-breeder Bob Key.
