Brett Beckwith completed a sweep of the Opens at Saratoga Casino Hotel this week, guiding Arizona to another feature victory on Tuesday, March 4.
After guiding The Good Doctor and Snowpiercer to Open wins over the previous two days, Beckwith took the reins behind Arizona, the track’s defending Filly and Mare Pacer of the Year. Assigned post seven in the $21,739 Open, the talented mare quickly asserted herself, taking the early lead. She posted first-half fractions of :28 and :57.3 before opening up an insurmountable lead, getting to the three-quarter mark in 1:26 and ultimately winning in 1:54.3 by a measured length.
Pocket-sitter Waitforever N (Aaron Byron) finished as the runner-up, while longshot Quarrel (Jay Randall) closed well to take third.
Arizona, a six-year-old Up The Credit–Jo And Maria mare owned by Wendy Timpano of Campbellville, Ont., was one of seven winners on the day for Beckwith, who is off to another sensational start at the Spa.
Trained by Melissa Beckwith, who also conditioned four other winners on the matinee card, Arizonas Open score marked her second win in three starts in 2025.
Live racing continues on Wednesday, March 5, with a matinee that kicks off at 12 p.m.
