on Tuesday evening.
With owner Mike Wassilyn at the lines, the eight-year-old son of Striking Sahbra went toe-to-toe to with Zorgwijk Fortunate to the quarter pole in :27.3 before dealing with first-over pressure from Abbey Road C past the mid-way point in :57.2.
Titan Park took his shot at Striking Lyric in the third quarter, and actually showed a short lead at the third station and 1:26.3. Striking Lyric, however, battled back at the rail and used a final frame clocked in :30.4 to post a quarter-length decision over Titan Park in 1:57.2. Third-place finisher Bacchus Marsh came up three-quarters of a length short in the nine-horse affair.
Robin Furlong trains Striking Lyric, who picked up his first since being claimed for $30,000 at Woodbine Racetrack on January 30, 2009. The steady cheque-getter surged past $500,000 in career earnings with the win.
