You don’t see many 11-year-olds racing on Saturday cards at The Meadowlands, let alone see them facing some of the best pacers on the grounds in the top class. Silent Swing is the exception to the rule.
The ageless son of Northern Luck-She Cantsay No turned a second-over trip into a 1:50.4 score for driver Mark MacDonald and trainer Mark Ford.
Hugadragon shot to the top from Post 7 for driver David Miller, and together they led the field through fractions of :27, :55.4 and 1:23.3. Despite getting sensible fractions Hugadragon couldn’t stave off late pressure from Silent Swing who used a :26.4 closing quarter to win by a head. Major Belle, who did the first-over work, was a determined runner-up with favourite Abelard Hanover rallying to finish third.
Sent off at odds of 9-2, Silent Swing improved this year’s record to 4-0-3 in 12 starts for owners Dave Shea of Campbellville, ON and Mark Ford of Campbell Hall, NY. The $12,500 payday bumped his career cash stash to $2,077,072.
Cane Ridge found the line just in the nick of time en route to capturing the $60,000 Rags To Riches Final in an eye-catching clocking of 1:50.
The seven-year-old son of Cambest-Camus, who captured the last two legs of the series, steamrolled to the top and threw down a first quarter in :26.4 before being confronted and overtaken by Cambassador. The new leader hit the half in :52.4 before Cane Ridge, who was sent off as the 3-5 favourite, popped back out before eventually reclaiming the lead and leading them to the three-quarter pole in 1:21.2. A :28.3 closing frame was just enough for Cane Ridge to fend off the hard-closing Tamayo. Cambassador was a distant third.
Doug Dilloian, Jr. trains the gelding for owner Darius Oshidar of Wrightstown, NJ, and together they’ve watched the speedball rack up a 4-3-0 record from just eight trips to the track this season. The 15-time winner bumped his bankroll to $243,331 with the win.

What an amazing horse! I remember him starting his career as a 2 Yr Old; I used to love to take pictures of him. It's amazing to see him still be racing and piling up that number of Wins at that speed. Definately deserves a Racing Warrior's recognition. I hope he's being treated with all the love and respect he deserves, what a Great horse.
