Gotalottacredit (sired by Credit Winner) sprung the upset in the Friday (March 3) feature at Saratoga Casino Hotel.
The Dave Dewhurst trainee sat the pocket in the $7,500 conditional trot for New York Sired high-steppers and wound up on the lead when the race’s front-runner made a break heading to the three-quarter pole. Gotalottacredit held off the late challenge from rival Intensify (Phil Fluet) before stopping the timer in 2:00.3 on a cold, windy March night in Saratoga. Longshot Yessir Im Royal (Brian Cross) earned the show spot.
Gotalottacredit, who was driven to the upset victory by Jimmy Devaux, returned $31.20 to win and led an exacta and triple that paid $126 and $797, respectively.
The four-year-old trotter is owned by Dewhurst and Philip Hale.
Live racing continues on Saturday night at Saratoga with first post time set for 6:45 p.m.
