Churchill Downs Inc. Chief Operating Officer Bill Carstanjen has gone on the record as saying that his company is more interested in landing casino gaming at the famed Kentucky Thoroughbred raceway as opposed to ‘Historical Racing,’ otherwise known as ‘Instant Racing.’

A report by cincinnati.com has cited officials with Churchill as saying that they are ‘uninterested’ in Instant Racing as a substitute for casino gaming, but that they are monitoring the situation.

Instant Racing continues to be debated in Kentucky courts. “What we’ve said for our company is we want all the ambiguities resolved by the court before would seriously look at it,” Carstanjen was quoted as saying.

The report goes on to quote Carstanjen as saying that Instant Racing machines may do “okay” in markets where slots are not located nearby.

The Churchill COO was quoted as saying that “It’s hard to imagine these machines are of real interest to us.”
