Conrad Perry put in a strong performance Thursday night to edge out Blaine McKenna to win a berth in the $100,000 World Harness Handicapping Championship, which will be held at the Meadowlands Racetrack on April 13.
Qualifying rounds, presented by the PEI Standardbred Horse Owners Association, were held over the past eight weeks at Red Shores Summerside and Red Shores
Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.
Perry marched to the top of the leaderboard with $79 earned after handicapping a total of six races from Woodbine Racetrack and ended with $357.70 in the bank while McKenna, who was leading going into the final week, finished a close second after cashing $52.30 on Thursday. McKenna's total was $350.30. Former Trot Canada National Handicapping Champion Dean MacNevin was third with $305.50.
Perry also wins a qualifying seat in the upcoming P.E.I. Poker Challenge at Red
