The luck of the post position draw went his way and the sturdy veteran pacer Daley Deposit Only knew what to do with it on the Saturday evening, March 26 program at The Isle Casino Racing Pompano Park

.

"Everyone should be as lucky as we've been to have a homebred like this," trainer and driver Dan Daley beamed in the winner's circle after his stable stalwart's 28th career triumph. "He's had his problems but he just keeps going and going. Tonight I got him a great trip and he knew what to do when the daylight opened up in the stretch," he added of the career winner of $292,120.

The six-year-old Artiscape-Sassy Cessiann gelding left hard from his inside post start to the quarter of :27.2 and was content to follow Four Starz Bling, with Bruce Ranger in the bike, through the middle fractions of :56.4 and 1:24.1. After Four Starz Bling held off the first over rush of Utah Jack, in rein to Dan Clements, a ferious four-wide finish ensued. Daley Deposit Only found room on the pylons to brush through first to the wire in 1:52.3. Following next were Four Starz Bling, Dragons Blood and Sports Fanatic with those top four finishers separated by less than a length and a half at the wire.

"I'll be staying in Florida until May 5 and then shipping north to our ummer base at Vernon Downs," Daley explained. "We have a Modern Art two-year-old half sister to Daley Deposit Only that we're looking forward to qualifying in a few months in addition to the trotters we're taking up north this year," he added.

The fastest mile on the sultry Florida evening was a 1:51.3 life's mark spin turned in by Bolero Trisco in a $6,000 purse conditioned test. The seven-year-old son of Northern Luck-Bolero Ultima made a gate break last week but was flawless this time with Richard Simard in the bike for owner-trainer Daniel Martin, and co-owner Pierre-Louis Levesque.

Also on Saturday night, 28-year-old trainer Julianna Edwards of Exeter, Pennsylvania won her first race at the meet as she sent out San Antony O for a well rated 1:53.3 score in the $10,000 purse winners over co-feature with Dan Clements in the bike.
