Following a week off, Gold Edition picked up right where he left off, scoring his second straight victory in the $12,000 Preferred Handicap Trot on Tuesday, March 25 at The Raceway at Western Fair District. Meanwhile, Wry made his Western Fair debut a winning one, scoring in the $12,000 Preferred Handicap Pace, which was co-featured on the 10-race card.

Scratched down to a field of five, Gold Edition and driver Tyler Borth left alertly from the middle of the gate, quickly grabbing command on the way to the quarter in :30 with 1-2 favourite Dealin With Dewey (Jason Ryan) sitting the pocket. The order remained unchanged to the half in 1:00.1 before Treasured Tee (Travis Henry) was the first to move from third, trotting to the leader's wheel at three-quarters in 1:29.2.

Gold Edition gave the cold shoulder to Treasured Tee before Dealin With Dewey squeezed out from the pocket turning for home. Dealin With Dewey loomed large on the outside, but would not catch Gold Edition as he held sway to score by three parts of a length in 1:58.4. Treasured Tee held for the show position.

Blair Burgess trains Gold Edition for owners Stirling Fisher of Waterloo, Ont., and Karin Olsson Burgess of Campbellville, Ont. The nine-year-old son of E L Titan-Ticket To Broadway has won three of his last four races at Western Fair and sports a career bankroll of $357,677.

Gold Edition (pictured above) returned $6.20 at the betting windows and was one of four winners on the evening for Borth, who led all drivers.

In the featured pace, Wry utilized off-the-pace tactics to score as the 6-5 choice.

Leaving from post three, Wry was a bit lackadaisical under Travis Henry urging, failing to get his nose on the gate and getting away sixth early while Taylors Credit (Natasha Day) cut the quarter in :28.2. Wry flushed the cover of Beach Tour (Michael Horner) in the second quarter, moving second-over in fourth while Taylors Credit continued to lead to the half in :58.4. Taylors Credit and Beach Tour continued to battle on the engine, matching strides to three-quarters in 1:27.4.

Henry right-lined Wry three-deep around the final turn, facing a three-length deficit to the duelling leaders turning for home. Once straightened away, Wry found his best stride, surging home in :28.3 to sprint to the line first by a quarter-length in 1:56.4. Taylors Credit finished second, with Beach Tour finishing third just a half-length back of the winner.

Gerard Demers trains Wry for owner Yannick Marquis of Mascouche, Que. The five-year-old gelded son of Artspeak-Hobe Sound earned his first win of 2025 from nine outings and sports a career bankroll of $180,574.
