Commission Passes Lasix Proposal In KY

On Monday, March 23, the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission voted 8-4 in favour of allowing racetracks in the state to card races in which participating horses will not be allowed to be given race-day anti-bleeding medications.

According to a report by the Lexington Courier-Journal, the KHRC’s rules committee had earlier voted 3-2 in favour of the measure.

The topic of the administration of anti-bleeding medication on race-day has been a galvanizing topic for years, and, as the article explains, proponents for both sides of the argument voiced their opinions yet again on Monday.

The report explains that the proposal will now be addressed by state legislators for review.
